OUR SERVICES AND VALUES
TAMARIKI NEED AROHA
By having one educator to a maximum of four children - a strong bond between educator and child is fostered. The education they receive from Ahi Kaa can be tailored to accommodate their unique strengths, abilities and needs so we can love them as they are and educate them to be the best version of themselves.
TAMARIKI NEED TO BELONG
Ahi Kaa is the Maori concept of keeping the “home fires burning” to provide a sense of ownership to the people of a region. Your child will be not only part of a small group of four - but also belong to the wider Ahi Kaa network - fostering their sense of identity of a larger supported group.
TAMARIKI NEED TO LEARN THROUGH EXPERIENCE
A home based childcare education format leaves us free to be able to offer children practical, fun real life experiences both in the home and on excursions such as to the beach, a farm, a restaurant or going to the Cape. Ahi Kaa aims to provide as many learning opportunities as possible to children who might otherwise miss out.
TAMARIKI NEED SECURITY AND BOUNDARIES
The safety of your child is paramount. Ahi Kaa educators (and their families) are security vetted, they are chosen for their temperaments and affinity with children and the home environment in which the child will be educated is carefully set up with safety and security in mind. When on excursions outside this home environment, extra care is taken to promote safety and security and teach the child strategies to keep themselves safe too.
TAMARIKI NEED RELATIONSHIP BUILDING SKILLS
Ahi Kaa has extended this concept to include a sense of whanaungatanga (establishing relationships) and whaka whanaungatanga (maintaining established relationships) which are essential to the health and happiness of a child in the early stage of life.
